Business Development Manager

Reports to the VP of Business Development [or equivalent]

Overall Purpose of the Job

  • To support the increase in sales revenue through engaging clients/ prospects within defined sectors – Premium FMCG, Tech & Content, Travel & Lifestyle, and Health – and territories - EU & UK
  • Provide expertise for the business across lead generation and appointment setting
    • support account contact identification and management
  • Proactively seek new opportunities through targeted lead generation, appointment setting and client relationship management (kick-off)
  • Provide sales and marketing campaign expertise
  • Manage call contacts / CRM database to support strategic Business Development planning

Position Summary

  • The Business Development Manager is primarily responsible for lead generation, establishing opportunities for the operating units within TVE utilizing a targeted, rational approach based upon company strategy.
  • This position will also provide business development support through management of the CRM system and other activities


  • Responsible for driving new and existing contact-led business opportunity generation
  • In collaboration with the New Business Sector and Marketing teams identify, prospect, qualify and develop new leads through meeting setting
  • Generate new prospects target lists quickly and effectively
  • Maintain the CRM system, including contact management and up-to-date & timely reports
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing and Sector Consulting Teams to help develop robust prospects, account and contact plans
  • Build strong relationships with prospects to ensure future customers are handled consistently and effectively
  • Support the EU and UK management in the development and execution of a calling plan that will generate consistent, ongoing results, whilst improving over time
  • Work effectively with a variety of internal resources to achieve expected goals

Ideal Background

  • Premium FMCG, Tech & Content, Travel & Lifestyle, and Health (esp. MedTech)
  • Experience in a business and/or account development role at a consultancy, communications agency or similar specialised service provider
  • Commercial experience, in an enterprise sales environment
  • Proven track record of successful lead generation and appointment setting
  • Ability to discuss complex solutions with prospects / clients using a communication style appropriate to the audience
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation with the ability to work alone and/or in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively deal with changing expectations or challenges
  • Ability to utilise effective influencer strategies to gain agreement or commitment to proposed meetings in order to help advance the sale to the next level
    • Tenacity - Not taking “no” for an answer
  • Experienced with Microsoft office - Outlook / Excel / PowerPoint
  • Experience in prioritising and working to tight deadlines
  • Results focused and growth orientated
